Lakme Fashion Week
One of the leading events in the history of Indian Fashion would the Lakme Fashion Week, a joint initiative by the leading cosmetic brands, provided a platform to showcase India’s rich, diverse and unique textile tradition. Lakme Fashion Week last year exhibited an extraordinary range of Indian textiles reflecting the cultural richness and adaptability of the Indian society. The ranges of color combinations found in Indian clothes are unique. Demand for silk cotton and wool dominated the Lakme Fashion Week 2007.
The Fashion Week paved its way to international recognition and space for Indian wear all over the world. The biggest names of Bollywood were seen to walk down the ramp. And the celebrities who were not seen sashaying down the ramp were seen cheering from the aisle for their favorite designer. The week saw some of the top designers showing of their creation. And each of them came up with a stunning vibrant collection.
Models like Upen Patel and Shawar Ali walking in zardosi kurtis and sherwanis was a big hit at Arjun Khanna’s show. But the real show stoppers were Celina Jaitely and Tanisha with mother Tanuja who were present at the show.
The billowing style of balloon dresses, funky hand bags ruled the ramp, with pleated skirts making a strong comeback. And the layered effect continues to be hot, and most designers experimented with textures, fabrics and style to create designs that showed various methods of using layers.
Lakme Fashion Week did not just see top fashion designers but even top buyers from all over the world were present to make the show successful.
