Darsheel choosing his roles

Bollywood 10/06/2008

Just following the footsteps of Amir Khan, Darsheel Safary, the stupendous child actor of “Taare Zamin Par” who left audiences completely stunned with his marvelous and remarkable performance in the film, has turned much selective in terms of choosing a role, turning down the producers, making them go for other talented child artists from the same film. His acting has been highly praised and critically acclaimed. To some producers Darsheel is the first preference for their films as his presence can itself attract the audiences to the theatres irrespective of the film and script. This is because of the success that he has achieved from “Taare Zamin Par”. But when Darsheel refused to work , the other option for ad-maker Vikram Singh’s comedy “Mastang Mama” was Tanay Cheda, who played Ishan’s (Darsheel) best friend Rajan, a physically challenged child in “Taare Zamin Par”. Tanay is equally talented child artist and hence bagged the role in “Mastang Mama”, which stars Ruslaan Mumtaz.. Tanay who was seen on crutches throughout the film and who has equally done justice to his role like Darsheel , is basically from Raell Padamsee’s theatre group. He was Darsheel’s classmate and friend in the film. Actor Ruslaan is looking forward to have a great time with his young co-star. Darsheel, meanwhile, makes his first television appearance on 9x’s “Chak de Bachche” as a celebrity guest to cheer the team of metro rockers.
