Rageshwari Sachdev
Rajeshwari Sachdev is a well accomplished actor who mostly comes in parallel cinema or art films as it is popularly called. She is a graduate from Guru Nanak Khalsa College(King’s Circle) which is in Mumbai. Rageshwari started her career of acting with on stage plays. She was a part of the Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA) at Prithvi and has a number of plays with the association. She has a natural talent of acting and this has benefited her in giving appreciative performances in the films where she has appeared. Her debut film was ‘Aaytya Gharat Gharoba’ in 1991 which was directed by Sachin, another known actor of the Indian film industry. Rageshwari received her first award for her performance in the film, the Maharashtra State Government Award for the Best Actress.
Her second film was Shyam Benegal’s ‘Suraj Ka Satvan Ghoda’ in 1992. She has appeared in many Shyam Benegal direction like ‘Mammo’ in 1994, ‘Sardari Begum’ in 1996, ‘Samar’ in 1999, ‘Hari-Bhari’ in 2000, ‘Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero’ in 2005 and the most recently ‘Mahadev Ka Sajjanpur’. Her performance in ‘Sardari Begum’ won her National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress. Rageshwari has also hosted television shows, the recent one being ‘K for Kishore’. She has some 13 years of training in the dance form Bharat Natyam, which helped her to participate with her television actor husband Varun Vadola in the popular celebrity dance show ‘Nach Baliye’ few years before. Though they had an unfortunate exit from the dance show, their performances were always appreciated by the judges and audiences.
