Deepika Padukone,one of the newest faces to take over Bollywood is the daughter of Ujjala & Prakash Padukone. She was born on January 5, 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark Born into a family where the father is a badminton player, who has played at the international level for India while her mother was a travel agent, and a younger sister names Anisha, Deepika always had the spark in her to make it big in life. Since her childhood, she has received formal training in Bharatnatyam.

After having moved to Bangalore at the age of seven, Padukone attended Sophia’s High School in Bangalore and later did her undergraduate studies from Mount Carmel College. It is in college that her relationship with the modeling industry began. Her tall slender figure as one of the main reasons for her to enroll in to modeling and she started shining like a glittering star here. After having modeled for brands like Liril, Dabur Lal powder, Close-Up toothpaste and Limca over the years he first stint with international success came when she was selected the cover girl face for Maybelline. 2006 saw her receive the very prestigious title of ‘model of the year’ after which she was chosen as one of the models in the KingFisher Swimsuit Calendar for 2006. This led her to be the brand ambassador of KingFisher Airlines and this opened the floodgates for her.

Offer started pouring in and Bollywood tried to cash in. Her first stint with cinema was in 2006, when she made her debut in the Kannada film, Aishwarya. Her first popular Bollywood film was Om Shanti Om opposite Sharrukh Khan for which she won accolades from all audiences and even bagged the best debut female award at the star screen awards.
