JODHAA AKBAR – Indian Movie

Bollywood 02/03/2008

The much-researched and awaited Hindi film of the year, Jodhaa Akbar, has not only impressed the Indian audience but also taken a huge amount of US viewers. Even amidst the tumultuous protests resulting in India the humungous international screening and widespread appraisal could not be avoided. All the accolades go to the meticulous detail that this epic movie has spanned despite its broad spectrum treatment.

The performances by the two leading actors — Hrithik Roshan as Akbar and Aishwarya Rai as Jodhaa have been appreciated by all and sundry. Critics have cited that the international release of an epic movie only hastens the paths for both the actors to make it into Hollywood. Inspite of the heavy historical distortion allegedly made by the script its popularity hasn’t actually dwindled due to the massive-scale impact of the great cinematography alongside the appeal of two of the leading actors in Bollywood.

Ashutosh Gowariker himself denied the charges to be valid and re-affirms that his script supports a very detailed and foundational research. Apparently, he made consultations with numerous historians as well as with Akbarnama has been an integral part of the development of the project. Gowariker’s masterful direction however transcends all given parameters and elevates the work to a masterpiece. You would not want to miss something as unique and beautiful as this whether or not you take into accord the validity of history as opposed to fiction.
