Lingerie and kidswear shows at Indian Fashion Events

Despite India having gone for a drastic image makeover these days, lingerie has always been looked through in the Indian fashion weeks. Skin show and scanty clothing has always invited controversy in the past and still manages to raise a thousand eyebrows, courtesy- the several religious and political organizations that make a living out of objections and demonstrations. But soon things are going to change as the FDCI ( fashion designers council of India ) along with the chief organizers of Lakme India fashion week and the chief executive of wills lifestyle ( ITC) have announced that within 5 years the fashion weeks in India are going to see lingerie , kids wear , accessories and maternity wear shows

Soon fashion weeks won’t be only about couture, prêt and diffusion lines. Lingerie, which controls a massive segment of the fashion market will get optimum exposure. Efforts shall be made to bring it out of the closet and banish the step motherly treatment that it has always received in our country. In four to five years from now, couture, men’s wear, accessories, lingerie, kids wear and maternity wear would be displayed on the WIFW ramp or during an event especially organized for it. However, organizing a separate event would largely depend on supply and demand. But fashion gurus are being completely optimistic about this stance. It wouldn’t be surprising to have an Indian lingerie brand matching up to Victoria’s secrets and its likes not far from now , or kids craving and cribbing for the latest kids wear range that has taken the season by storm!
