Tashan not to release in major multiplexes
The much hyped multi-starrer movie ‘Tashan’ is likely to get affected since it was not released in the multiplexes. The hyped film has not released in most of the major multiplexes around the country because of the dispute over sharing the revenues with cinema hall owners. Yash Raj Films offered some 45% of the box office collection in the first week to the multiplex owners but the share was not acceptable by them. The stand-off will now affect the collection of the film. This has not been good news for the Yash Raj banner as the collection will fail because the reviews of the film have been encouraging enough. The multiplexes contributed to a large portion of the films’ since they have plenty of shows with sky-high ticket prices.
The other earlier releases like ‘Krazzy 4’ and ‘U Me Aur Hum’ are already struggling at the box office in their third week of the run and ‘Tashan’ being a clear non-starter, it will be easier for ‘Race which is running its fifth week for further consolidation of its position in the market. The other release of the week ‘Sirf, The Life Looks Greener on the Other Side’ is certainly a not match for these movies. And the Pakistani movie ‘Khuda Ke Liye’ which has been dubbed in Hindi is in it own league, and has been successful in India. ‘Tashan’, the latest from the house of Yash Raj has a huge star cast which includes Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, and the much hyped off screen pair Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor.
