Thomas Cruise Mapother IV popularly known Tom Cruise is a popular American actor and also a film producer. He was ranked in 2006 as the world’s most powerful celebrity by the Forbes magazine. Tom has been nominated thrice for Academy Award and has won three Golden Globe Awards. Tom Cruise was born on 3rd July in 1962 in Syracuse in New York. He started acting after he was injured and was sidelined from his high school’s wrestling team. His first film came in 1980 in ‘Endless Love’ where he had a small role. The film was romantic drama and starred Brooke Shields. His first film as the leading actor was ‘Risky Business’ which was released in 1983. Tom then became one of the top celebrities of Hollywood and acted in numerous notable movies. One of his most successful movies is ‘Top Gun’. Tom is one of the three actors to have seven consecutive US $100 million blockbusters; the other two actors are Tom Hanks and Will Smith. His other most successful films are ‘The Color of Money’, ‘Rain Man’, ‘Born on Fourth July’, ‘Jerry Maguire’, ‘Mission Impossible’ and many more. The People magazine as one chose him the 50 Most Beautiful people in the world. Tom loves scuba diving and skydiving. He has shared his screen space with renowned actor like Jack Nicholson in the Rob Reiner directed movie ‘A few Good Men’. Tom’s 2008 release include ‘Valkryrie’ and ‘Tropic Thunder’, in the latter film, he will have a cameo.
